Beatle carries legal papers in promotional gift

Former Beatle Paul McCartney has been seen with one of a small Cumbrian company's business gifts.

The News & Star reports that the singer has been photographed carrying his divorce legal documents inside an oven glove from The Village Bakery in Melmerby, near Penrith.

"The oven glove is a fairly new product that we launched just before Christmas," manager Chris Curry stated. "It's interesting to see that they have another use!"

Mr Curry claimed that he was both pleased and surprised with the celebrity endorsement.

However, he said that as Mr McCartney had never been spotted in the small shop, the hamper in which the oven glove came in must have been given as a present.

The hampers were included in a range of corporate logo gifts launched as part of the festive season, Mr Curry added.

According to the American Chronicle, custom business gifts are an effective way of encouraging consumer loyalty.
