Businesses asked to sponsor young players' engraved shields

Young rugby players in Chorley are to be awarded engraved shields for special performances on the field.

Categories include Players' Player of the Season, Most Improved Player and Top Try Scorer.

Businesses are being invited to sponsor the shields.

Organiser of the new prizes at Chorley Rugby Club Alison Hansford said the young players were "the lifeblood of the club" and a lot of hard work had gone into setting up the youth section.

"It will help to keep some history for the club making the kids proud of representing the club," she added.

The mini's section is open to both boys and girls aged between five and 11.

Chorley Rugby Union Club was established in 1973 and runs two senior teams as well as the mini's section. The club's colours are black and white hoops and the club's logo is a version of the Chorley Borough coat of arms.
