Charity bags given away as corporate gifts

Bridge 2 Sri Lanka is offering companies in the country the chance to buy corporate gifts produced by people affected by the tsunami in 2004.

Founder of the charity Sarah Griffith is asking businesses to consider investing in business gifts and corporate gifts, the Guernsey Press reports.

"We want to get the word out that these bags can be tailor-made," she said, "I challenge any business to not need a bag for anything."

The Guernsey Press reports that the proceeds from the sales are being re-invested into improving local drainage and infrastructure damaged in the tsunami.

Sri Lanka's tidal wave, which also affected ten other countries around the Indian Ocean, was a result of an earthquake which took place off the coast of Indonesia and killed more than 225,000 people.

It had a magnitude of between 9.1 and 9.3 on the Richter scale and was the second-largest earthquake ever to be measured by seismograph.
