Corporate gifts attract potential recruits
Computer gaming company Red 5 has sent out engraved corporate gifts to their 100 most-desired programmers.
Red 5 described emails as "overdone" and "passé", deciding that a corporate branded gift would "immediately grab a prospective applicant's imagination".
IPods engraved with the recipient's name and a special code were sent out in Red 5 branded packaging, inviting them to apply for a job at the company.
The code gave access to a certain section of the group's website explaining more about the company and the job Red 5 had "cherry-picked" them for.
Personalised audio greetings for the targeted applicant were recorded onto each iPod.
The success rate for the project was almost 100 per cent, proving that corporate gifts are the way to grab a potential recruit's attention.
Competition for computer programmers is fierce and a survey by job search website Jobfox found software developers among the most in-demand professions in the United States.
