Corporate gifts hit the Gulf

Business people in the Gulf region are some of the most prolific givers of corporate gifts, it has been claimed.

Middle eastern news provider Albawaba.com has reported local executive gifts provider Asem Aqtash as saying the region spent around $4 billion (£2.1 billion) on corporate gifts during 2007.

He commented that such corporate gifts should always be directly targeted to ensure the correct message is conveyed and they make the most difference to the image of the brand.

"Companies are de-marketing their positions when they provide their clients with gift items that don't convey the corporate messages nor demonstrate their key values," Mr Aqtash told the news provider.

He added that executive gifts should be seen as a crucial part of an advertising campaign, not just another box on the list.

According to the Kipp Report, business leaders are increasingly turning to luxury items to use as corporate gifts rather than to cheaper pieces such as plastic pens which often end up in the bin.
