Corporate gifts 'need a personal touch'

Employee incentives can be a successful way to motivate staff, especially when they are used as "a little personal touch", it has been claimed.

Dilys Robinson, a principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, said giving out corporate gifts "may work really well", depending on the organisation using them.

She explained that while people in sales, in particular, expect to receive financial motivations and incentives, "non-financial rewards can work very well too".

Employeebenefits.co.uk reports that keeping staff motivated can help boost their productivity, loyalty to the company and engagement with their roles.

Corporate gifts can also be given away in internal awards ceremonies where employees can be recognised for their hard work and be encouraged to continue working hard through the rest of the year.

According to the group, seeing colleagues being rewarded for hard work can further help employee engagement among the rest of the company's workforce.
