Corporate gifts race 'a great success'
The British Promotional Merchandise Association's (BPMA's) annual dragon boat race was a great success, with nine boats taking part.
Sailing took place at Dorney Lake in Windsor - to be the site of the 2012 Olympics rowing events - and was described by race winner Robert Pursey as a great opportunity to network.
Gordon Glenister, director general of the BPMA, said he was pleased that more than 100 people had turned up for the race, adding that it was now a "firm favourite" in the corporate gifts industry calendar.
"As well as being a fun event, the race also enables the different areas of the promotional marketing community to come together providing an invaluable informal networking opportunity," Mr Glenister commented.
The British Dragon Boat Association explains that the sport originates in ancient China and its history has been traced back 2,000 years.
It was held to celebrate the fifth day of the fifth month and was intended to prevent misfortune.
