Desk accessories 'need to be positioned correctly'

Desk Accessories must be kept in an appropriate position near a workspace to ensure that a user is not exposed to factors which may bring on back pain, it has been claimed.

According to health information in Canadian publication The Province, desk accessories such as calculators and the telephone should be kept in easily-accessible locations so that excessive reaching or awkward movements can be avoided.

Other ways to improve posture while working include positioning the monitor so that the top line of text is at eye-level, keeping the keyboard low down and maintaining the desk chair in an appropriate setting.

Shoulders should be kept relaxed and other desk accessories such as the mouse should be kept close to avoid stretching.

Poor posture can contribute to numerous health conditions including curvature of the upper spine and back pain.
