Engraved box for Becks' gold cap

England football legend David Beckham is to be presented with a special award for winning his 100th cap for his country.

The LA Galaxy star reached his century last week, in England's friendly against France, which saw new boss Fabio Capello experience his first defeat as manager.

How much longer Beckham will continue to play for England remains to be seen, but his achievement has few parallels in the modern game, with most of those having made it to 100 dating back to the 1960s and 1970s.

Nevertheless, Capello said: "Nobody knows what the future holds. The David Beckham I know can get to [the World Cup in] 2010 if he works and trains hard."

The Football Association is to celebrate Beckham's record by presenting him with a special gold cap, detailing last week's match, along with a commemorative glass engraved box, listing the details of all his hundred games.
