Engraved messages 'bring customers closer to products'

Sony and Apple are offering customers a free engraving service enabling them to personalise their new items.

Senior vice president for Sony Electronics Mike Abary told the Wall Street Journal that these personalised products and engraved gifts are all the more important to the customer.

He remarked: "Once they have engraved [the product], they feel like it's a part of them."

Personalised gifts can appeal to business associates because they show that some thought has gone into the present.

Similarly, employees receiving engraved gifts as part of an incentive programme often feel that it is more special if it has been engraved especially for them.

Promotions and Incentives magazine has recognised the importance of employee incentives and is calling on its readers to offer their opinions on what kind of corporate gifts work best to engage staff.

Corporate gifts available include silver gifts, corporate logo gifts, branded merchandise, men's accessories and executive games.
