Engraved retirement gift for local artist

The artist behind the art workshop weeks at Park House Hotel in Sandringham is retiring after 20 years of organising them.

Leonard Cheshire Foundation, which runs the hotel, presented Pat Newton with an engraved vase and glass set as a "thank you" for her efforts.

The annual painting weeks have been run by Ms Newton and a team of volunteers.

Steven Tyers, volunteer co-ordinator for the foundation, said that thanks to Pat, those on courses had produced "some truly memorable paintings" which were then exhibited at the end-of-week show, according to the Lynn News.

Park House Hotel's painting weeks give disabled guests the chance to enjoy art with the support of enthusiastic skilled volunteers.

Specially aimed at disabled people and their carers, the Park House Hotel was established to enable disabled people to enjoy holidays together. It is located within the royal estate of Sandringham and its staff are experienced in caring for disabled people.
