Engraved trophy for teenage golf star

A 13-year-old from Wiltshire is to have her name engraved on another trophy after her latest victory in the Chippenham Winter Scratch Knock-Out competition.

Defeated Tidworth Golf Club team-mate Di Gritt said that she was very impressed with Hanna Turland's performance, telling the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: "It's ironic to think that, only four years ago, I was the one who marked Hannah's first card for handicap!"

It is not the first trophy that Ms Turland has won: she beat off other women to take the Wiltshire County Championships.

The event was sponsored by Chartex, whose managing director Chic Carvell said that he hoped the new competition would help to develop the standard of women's golf in the county, according to the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald.

Ms Turland and Ms Gritt will be playing together again as part of the Wiltshire Ladies County first golf team at the South West Inter-County Match Week in Dorset in mid-May.

Chartex designs wall charts for education and sport.

Charts and exercise cards include diagrams of the muscular system and posters detailing warm-up routine.
