Executive gifts 'effective, flexible and appealing'

Corporate gifts have been praised for their effectiveness, flexibility and appeal to business owners, the Nova Scotia Business Journal has reported.

According to Donald O’Hara, the new president and chief executive officer of the Promotional Product Professionals of Canada (PPPC), sales of corporate gifts have trebled in the last eight years because of their effectiveness.

Of those business travellers who received corporate gifts, some 86 per cent remembered the name of the company which gave the executive gifts to them.

In addition, they can meet a wide variety of different business needs, Mr O'Hara said, with companies using them as corporate gifts, business gifts, executive gifts, retirement gifts and many more, the newspaper reported.

He concluded: "People tend to think promotional products are purchased primarily by the marketing and sales department and used to build brand awareness and promote sales, but our study shows these products are used in a very wide variety of programs."

The Promotional Products Association International has reported that of HR managers questioned, 72 per cent thought corporate gifts were effective or extremely effective in motivating staff.
