Finalists announced for Council Worker of the Year
The finalists in the Council Worker of the Year Awards have been announced.
Awards are intended to celebrate the achievements of frontline workers including library assistants, fire-fighters and caretakers.
Winners will be awarded with an engraved trophy and a cheque for £250 in a ceremony on July 3rd in Bournemouth.
The award ceremony itself will be presented by BBC Radio 2 presenter and former journalist Jeremy Vine.
There are seven categories of award and 41 workers from local councils around the country have been shortlisted.
Award categories are Innovation, Care and Commitment, Bravery, Leadership, Flood Response (a category specially introduced in response to last summer's floods), Lifetime Service, and Team of the Year.
The public are able to vote for the winners and a film of each of the finalists and the work that they do is available to view online.
