Guernsey gives engraved promotional gift to Chinese Bank manager

A delegation of business leaders from Guernsey have given an engraved traditional Guernsey milk can to the deputy general manager of the Bank of China's Shanghai branch.

Guernsey's Chief Minister Mike Torode presented Wang Xiaoming with the engraved milk can to promote the island as a centre of expert and professional financial services.

The gift-giving was part of a promotional tour by Guernsey business notables including the chief executive of the states of the Guernsey Mike Brown and Peter Niven, chief executive of GuernseyFinance - the agency which promotes the island's financial industry.

The group also met the vice-mayor of the Shanghai People's Municipal Government Tu Guangshao and described their welcome as "exceptionally warm".

Peter Niven said the meeting with the mayor had "cemented very firmly the relationship between Guernsey and Shanghai, with the hope from all parties that this grows strongly to mutual benefit over the course of the coming months and years".
