Harley Davison brand 'a way of life'

Harley Davison has been named as one of the world's most effective brands because it markets itself as "a way of life, a global family [and] a whole culture".

According to Michelle Rodger, writing for the Scotsman, the emotional appeal of the brand makes fans spend significantly more on their bikes than those made by other manufacturers purely to be able to display the logo.

The writer claims that a brand is more than a logo with a trademark and that any business looking to build itself up in the eyes of customers should consider all aspects of the service they offer.

"Brands exist in the minds of customers and prospective customers. They are the few key thoughts that people have about products, services and organisations. It's how they encourage other people to become customers by sharing their experiences," she commented.

Ms Rodger claimed strong brands can influence behaviour, attitude and build loyalty.
