Logo likened to Winehouse hairstyle

A new logo produced to represent Cornwall has been slammed as being too much like Amy Winehouse's hairstyle.

It has also emerged that the new branding, which will be printed onto corporate gifts, will cost the county around £476,000.

Councillor Graeme Hicks said: "Nearly £500,000 is being spent on a logo which has very little support from the Cornish public. It's an outrageous waste of money."

The flame-like logo was produced to represent what will be Cornwall's impending unitary authority.

Council bosses have defended the choice, explaining the new executive gifts logo was chosen from around 30 different potential designs.

Titus Hoskins, writing on the top10-top7-tips blog said personalising corporate gifts make them more memorable for the recipient and engraved gifts can be more appealing.
