Pewter tankard pays health spa visit
One glass of wine permitted during a weekend away at a health spa is acceptable when you have brought your own pewter tankard, a commentator has claimed.
Mike Locklet, writing for Birmingham newspaper the Sunday Mercury, said that while portions of food at the event were small, he was able to get around the strict alcohol regulations by asking for his wine in his favourite Elvis Presley pewter tankard.
During his stay at the spa he also underwent a massage and facial, something which made him feel "somewhat uncomfortable", Mr Locklet commented.
He was also confused by the trips "from treatment room to treatment room" which were "accompanied by tapes of pan-pipes, waterfalls and chirping birds", he told the newspaper.
Pewter tankards can also be awarded as corporate gifts or prizes.
For example soldier William Donohoe has been rewarded with an engraved pewter tankard for excellent achievement in his physical training.
