Pewter tankards for prize-winning rowers

Bexhill Rowing Club has presented a winning rowing team with engraved pewter tankards and a commemorative shield to celebrate their achievements.

The Bexhill Observer reports that the club's Fun Regatta was an opportunity for novices to try out the sport and take part in a short race.

A pewter tankard was given to the winning 'St Trinian's' team which rowed around 500 metres with the guidance of a coxswain from Bexhill's clock tower to the rowing club.

Other teams taking part in the race included the 'guys with moustaches' and groups from local pubs the Devonshire and the York.

Captain of the team Andy Bickers told the Bexhill Observer that he hoped to publicise the Bexhill Rowing Club and "to get people to have a go and have fun".

Bar accessories such as pewter tankards can be popular prizes or retirement gifts because they are able to be engraved to make them personalised.

In May, selected players at Widnes Rugby Union Club were presented with engraved corporate gifts such as pewter tankards as rewards for a good season the Runcorn and Widnes World reported.
