Promotional Product association donates to charity

A food drive organised by the Promotional products Association International (PPAI), the worldwide organisation for the corporate gifts industry, has collected 2,794 pounds (1,267 kilograms) of goods and $500 (£250) for a local charity.

PPAI staff members were divided into teams which then competed over who could raise the most money and collect the best goods.

Teams at the executive gifts governing body were awarded points based on the food that they brought and its perceived value in the pantry.

Pat Burgher, PPAI community services coordinator, described the food fair as "different" from other years.

"Considering the current state of the economy, we were extra eager to do what we could, and as an Irving-based association, we felt our community needed assistance more than ever before," Pat said.

The money raised by the corporate gifts organisation will be donated to the local charity Irving Care, which is a charity providing temporary assistance and training in self-sufficiency.
