Roles in business 'should be recognised through corporate gifts'

People's roles in the success of a business should be recognised through corporate gifts and executive gifts, it has been claimed.

Executive gifts businessman Gareth Parkin has said that giving corporate gifts - which can range from pewter tankards to desk accessories - can make the recipient feel "valued".

Writing on the business004 blog, Mr Parkin said that letting people know that their contribution - as a supplier, client or staff member - is recognised by the company can help maintain important relationships.

"If people involved in the business are happy, no one can stop the business from attaining great heights," he commented.

Donald O'Hara, the president and chief executive officer of the Promotional Product Professionals of Canada, recently told the Nova Scotia Business Journal that while the giving of executive gifts is one of the oldest ways to promote a business, its effectiveness means that distributing corporate gifts is one of the fastest-growing forms of advertising.
