Specially-engraved trophy awarded for special sandwich

Highland Country Foods has won a specially engraved trophy for scooping a special industry award for the quality of a meat sandwich.

The Scottish Enterprise Grampian Award was taken by the firm for one of its sandwiches, which contained sliced pork, sage and onion stuffing.

It also entered its Highland herb ham and the winter spiced beef products.

According to Jennifer Graham, Highland Country Food's plant manager, workers at the company were "over the moon" with the prize.

"Launched in 2007 our new lines have really taken off and to have such a prestigious industry seal of approval is just fantastic," she added.

Highland Country Foods also won £1,000.

The company produces meat products for hotels and retail customers. It also offers fresh meat for use by other firms such as pizza producers.
