Specially engraved trophy for player of the year

Plymouth Albion's Player of the Year has been awarded a specially engraved trophy for his efforts.

Readers of the Plymouth Herald voted Ed Lewsey as the best player in the team this season, reports the paper.

Mr Lewsey plays utility back for the team and finished the season as Albion's top try scorer.

He scored 42.8 per cent of the total votes cast in the poll, compared with second placed Time Mathias who pulled in 25.7 per cent.

Official player of the year at the club was Jannie Bornman who was presented with his award at the club's presentation lunch yesterday.

Albion's most promising young player of the year was announced as flanker Mike Denbee.

Academic studies have found that engraved trophies and other staff incentives are a good way to improve employee productivity.

Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club was established in 1875 by a group of apprentices from Devonshire Dockyard.
