Staff awards 'must be prestigious and recognisable'

Giving achievement awards to successful employees will only work if the award itself is classy and recognisable, according to a brand consultant.

Engraved gifts should be personalised with the employee's name and the company's logo.

It should also reveal the achievement for which the employee is being recognised in order to be more appealing to staff.

As well as acting as an incentive, awards carrying the company logo can reinforce brand image within the company, said Liz Logan, director of BrandIt.

This increases both motivation and productivity, she added.

According to HRZone.net, company-wide reward schemes "could be instrumental in helping to boost company morale".

It recommends implementing structured schemes which become engrained into company culture and give employees something to work towards.

Crystal awards, engraved silver gifts, pewter tankards, hip flasks, picture frames and trophies all make good prizes in company award schemes.
