Staff 'should be clear of your brand message'

Members of staff should be aware of and loyal to your brand in order to ensure that they promote your business, according to a branding expert.

Sally Durcan told MyCustomer.com that brand image "holds as much - if not more - of a stake in consumers' buying decisions as product features and functionality".

Ms Durcan claims that employees are a company's "greatest brand advocates" because they are already "living, eating and breathing your brand for eight hours a day, five days a week".

A successful internal branding strategy can mean that staff morale increases and efficiency levels rise, she commented.

She added that internal branding means that all employees understand the importance of company promotion and will hopefully create 'buzz marketing' through talking about your product.

One way of promoting your company's brand is to produce branded corporate gifts which can be distributed to clients and partners or used as staff incentives.

Good-quality prizes such as desk accessories or engraved pewter tankards can mean that staff are more motivated and efficient.
