Corporate Gifts Giving News

The etiquette of corporate gift giving

Giving corporate gifts can be useful for business: from networking to saying "thank you", sending a gift can be enough to cement business ties.

But giving corporate gifts can be a potential minefield.

Some companies have a limit to the value of the gifts their staff are allowed to accept, while others cannot accept any kind of gift at all.

Different cultures and traditions also react to corporate gifts in a variety of ways.

According to Cebza Maseko, for Europeans red roses symbolise romance, whereas in China a white gift wrapping symbolises death. The number four is unlucky for the Japanese, who link gifts in sets of four to death and ill-fortune.

The gifts that are sent reflect the business that sends them and so when choosing a gift it is best to go for a high-quality merchandise to give a good image of the company.

Essentially, when choosing a corporate gift, do the research. Cultural faux-pas should be easy to avoid with a bit of planning and it is important to make sure that that carefully-engraved gift is actually allowed to be accepted by its recipient.
